Ms. Nilakshi Saha Sinha
Ambassador of India to Armenia

Ms. Nilakshi Saha Sinha assumed charge as Ambassador of India to Armenia on 29 March 2023.

Prior to her current assignment, she served as Joint Secretary (from 2020-2023) in the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS, earlier known as the Foreign Service Institute) overseeing the training imparted to foreign diplomats and MEA personnel. During this tenure, she was also a member (from August 2020-February 2023) of the Board of Directors of the United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) for the Fulbright-Nehru Fellowship Programme. At headquarters, she has earlier served in the Central & West Africa Division (as Director from 2013-2020), Central Europe Division (Director/Deputy Secretary from 2009-2012) and Europe West Division (1993-1995). She did two stints in India’s Mission in Paris as Third Secretary from 1999-2002 and First/Second Secretary from 2006-2009.
She joined the Ministry of External Affairs in June 1993. Being a linguist, she served as Interpreter to the Hon’ble Prime Minister, H.E. Mr. Narendra Modi, from October 2014-February 2022.
She completed her M.A. in French from the Jawaharlal Nehru University in 1992 and obtained a Junior Research Fellowship in French from the University Grants Commission the same year. Earlier, she taught French at the Alliance Française in New Delhi from 1989 to 1991 after training as a teacher and obtaining a Diploma in Teaching French as a Foreign Language (FLE) in 1990 from the Alliance Française and the Embassy of France in New Delhi. 
She is fluent in English, French, Hindi and Bengali. She was a member of the Editorial Team for “Indian Foreign Policy: Agenda for the 21st Century” Volumes 1 & 2 (Konark Publishers, 1997) She is married to Mr. Rajesh K. Sinha and they have a 20 year-old son.
